“As the decade would play us for fools”

Uncle Jerry reads Sonnet 60 at greater length than any of the others in his Shakespeare cluster, using it to show time working as an active agent that transfixes, feeds and mows. He sets that against Taylor's decade playing the lovers for fools, arguing that both writers give time a will of its own and both answer it the same way, with the poem itself as the only thing that outlasts the scythe.
