A vault track about a relationship mythologised in retrospect, the suburban legend of what they were to each other, transformed into local mythology. The song romanticises an unrealised or ended connection precisely because it stayed unresolved.

“Waves crash to the shore, I dash to the door”

The rhyme makes the wave a cue for movement. The regular violence of waves breaking sets the speaker's urgency in motion, one of the sharpest uses across the catalogue of ocean sound as score.

The door as the point of urgent return. The speaker rushes to the threshold as the larger forces of the song crash around her, the door the place she runs toward to reach the person inside.

“I had the fantasy that maybe our mismatched star signs Would surprise the whole school When I ended up back at our class reunion Walkin' in with you”

The speaker brings the star signs up to say that on paper the two of them do not match. Then she imagines it not mattering: the mismatch is the received rule, and the fantasy is the relationship going ahead in spite of it.
